Artist Statement
I am devoted to the mystic and the prophetic as companions to our journeys. I believe art as a force of freedom; to recover our voice and belonging; and to embody as we walk in care for one self and all Life.
My creative practice is connected to my devotion to make a positive impact in people, communities, and ecosystems. My art practice is grounded in my Spiritual Path through my reclamation journey. Profoundly through the reclamation of my hidden, secret, and living lineages, stories, wisdom from the Original Caretakers of Anahuac, Sierra of Nayarit, Jalisco and Queretaro currently known as México.
Artistic Vision
Art as the landscape and the wise voice in the walk home to our hearts and to our Origins. Art Spaces that arise our rooted future in equitable, healthy, and liberated communities. Art-making which blooms our voice, belonging, and wellbeing.
Art for freedom and belonging
I embody, research, and build creative bodies of work that weave the search for the Mythologies, Cosmologies, and Spirituality of the hidden, forgotten, and my living Indigenous lineages. My practice explores the resurfacing of the stories, knowledge, and how it brings revival to myself and all.
Inter*Transdiciplinary
My Art Practice involves a collaborative exploration of prophecy within decolonization and reindigenization processess within re-tribalization efforts by merging methods from the arts with other disciplines. This collaborative approach fosters innovative and unexpected outcomes, where the focus shifts from the individual disciplines to a shared understanding of this complex personal and collective resilience process.

Embodied
Red Surrender
Red Surrender is a bio-mythic inter*transdisciplinary performance piece on a young woman's journey of initiation to wombanhood, magic, power of dreams, but most importantly to herself. It is a tale of becoming. Becoming through phases that act as cocoons where transfiguration is painful, fearful, beautiful and full of revelations. The characters incarnate the Divine Feminine.

Self-Portraiture Series: Vestido Yolotl
Vestido Yolotl was an assisted self-portraiture experimentation within relationship break ups. But mostly a breaking from old concepts of self. It engaged with personal declarations of freedom from societal norms and grappling to attain agency within confusing expectations woven within migration and cultural transfigurations. It speaks to the millenary tie to the land as home. The photographs showcase the in-between process within themes of fluidity, queerness, ecoerotics, polyamory, an endless exploration of love within the infinite personal evolution.

In the Haunting I Became -Con el Susto Renací : Self-Portrait Series
- Exhibited in Gallery 44, Toronto
These art pieces are dedicated to my soul and to the mother of my great-grandmother Mama Salito who they say died of ‘Susto’ in the Mexican Revolution. Mama Salito was just an infant and became an orphan. Susto is deadly condition when one is scared to death.
This Series explores the collection of family stories and remnants from historical events juxtaposed with the personal. The images capture the liminal space between memory and dreams. It invites the viewer to uncover the threads full of hardship, stories, secrets, nightmares, ghosts, blood, tears and more.

Painting
Crystal Codice
“Crystal Codice” is an artistic research by Vero Diaz. Through half a millennium of silence; these painted melodies are birthed. They carry the wisdom of my Indigenous Nations who buried their hearts and all our ancestral treasures within times of Invasion and G*no cide. This collection carries all that was kept in a safe haven. These painted seeds and written poetry have come out of sleep to join the shifting landscape of the planet. They shine color medicine and sing activations into our subtle bodies and through the power of the subconscious.
This inter*disciplinary project will be reflected in various media.
